Core User Goals
Control video playback on tablet mounted on tray table without reaching forward
Watch movies seamlessly without needing airline Wi-Fi
Enjoy a minimalist, premium dark-mode interface
Existing Pain Points
Casting devices failing due to lack of local Wi-Fi router
Arm fatigue from repeatedly reaching to pause or rewind videos
The Problem
Frequent travelers, in-flight passengers, and remote users often enjoy movies on tablets but find touching the screen from awkward positions frustrating. Standard casting solutions (Chromecast, AirPlay) require active Wi-Fi networks and fail in offline travel environments.
Our Engineering & UX Approach
We designed and engineered a local peer-to-peer BLE controller architecture. The tablet stores offline video files while the phone runs a companion controller app that discovers and pairs with the tablet in under 2 seconds, offering play/pause, scrubbing, volume control, and video selection.
System Flow
How user intent transitions through the interface into automated real-time execution.
Instant BLE Discovery
Phone scans and detects the MABWAS tablet receiver nearby via Bluetooth Low Energy.
Local Media Playlist
Phone retrieves video title metadata and thumbnails directly from the paired tablet.
Full Remote Control
User controls play, pause, seek bar, subtitles, and volume with sub-100ms response.
Capabilities
Peer-to-peer Bluetooth Low Energy protocol with auto-reconnect
Sleek dark-mode interface matching high-end tablet hardware
Bi-directional sync of scrub progress, play state, and volume levels
Zero battery drain optimization with background BLE peripheral mode
Complete offline independence for flights, road trips, and camping
